The Pet Spa
We have a new cabin at PetVilla, and it did not stay empty for long. It already has a proper job. The Pet Spa is now our dedicated space for dog baths, brushing, and vet visits. It sits out on the property as if it has always been there, which is usually the sign that a project took far more work than it looks.
A New Cabin With a Practical Job

Inside the Pet Cave there is an electric dog bath, an electric grooming table, and the bits and pieces needed for a wash and a brush. Day to day, the brushing will probably be what gets used most. That part is fairly ordinary. A muddy dog comes in, a cleaner dog goes home, and everyone is happier, including the car seats.
The bigger improvement is the setup itself. Having a dedicated space for these jobs means things can be done properly, with the right equipment in one place, instead of making do somewhere else. It is a small building with a very specific purpose, and those are often the most useful kind.
Vet Visits made easy
Even when we use the electric Grooming Table for Dog Brushing, the real reason is vet visits. When Alice from VetVan comes out to see a pet, either for a health issue or a vaccination, she now has a proper working area. The table changes height with a foot pedal, which means less lifting, less kneeling on the floor, and a calmer experience for the pet.

That matters more than it might sound. Many of the pets seen here are staying with us already, so they know the people, the smells, and the general routine. Being checked in a familiar place is usually easier on them than adding a car trip and a clinic visit on top. A proper setup also makes the visit easier for the humans doing the work, which tends to help everyone.
Is grooming coming ?
No – One thing this does not mean is that we now offer professional grooming. We do not. Same as before, we do dog baths, brushing for cats and dogs, and nail trims for cats. Professional grooming is its own skill, and we were never trained in it, so we are not going to pretend otherwise. When customers ask, we are happy to point them to Miss Millies Doggy Day Spa in Waikanae or Kapiti Klippers in Paraparaumu.

So the Pet Cave is open, in use, and already earning its keep. It is practical, it makes vet visits easier, and it gives us a better setup for the everyday jobs that need doing. Sometimes the best improvements are not flashy. They just work, and then quietly become part of how things are done.
The people behind it
A big thank you goes to Daryn, who set up the cabin, laid the flooring, and did the landscaping around it. Rose Electrical and Thomas Plumbing then had to get power, water, and drainage to a dog bath in the middle of a paddock, which is not a standard afternoon job. An electric dog bath does not usually arrive with a neat instruction titled “simple rural installation”.
